Overview
The osprey is the star of Lake District wildlife. Reintroduced to England after extinction, they now breed at several Lakeland sites. RSPB Haweswater is the place to go. Get there before 10am if you want a decent spot at the hide. The nest is visible from the road. Take binoculars.

Large raptor. White head and underparts, dark brown back. Distinctive M-shaped wing profile in flight. Yellow eyes.
